Field trip activities for homeschoolers
When your school is at home, taking field trips can be especially beneficial. A road trip for homeschoolers can be a great way to reboot a rough week, get out of the house and learn along the way. A homeschooling field trip to Natural Springs can provide numerous chances for hands-on learning, including local history, geography lessons, nature hikes and other physical activities on our 12-acre lake.
Amenities for homeschoolers
The amenities at Natural Springs Resort revolve primarily around our beautiful spring-fed lake, with water flowing in at 1200 gallons per hour. The natural rock formations iconic to Natural Springs Resort are remnants from the old stone quarry that existed here decades ago, perfect for a homeschool history lesson. Due to the constant flow of fresh water our lake stays crystal clear with excellent visibility in most areas, allowing your children to see all the incredible wildlife swimming inside.
Catch-and-release fishing is great for a weekday stay at Natural Springs too, with a stock of freshwater game fish (Channel Catfish, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Rainbow Trout, and Black Crappie) that provide a nice reward for fishing. You can also get out on the lake with one of our non-motorized watercraft for rent. From canoes, kayaks and paddle boats, we’ve got you covered. And don’t forget gym class – our Camp Store is the place to pick up sports rental equipment, such as volleyballs, basketballs, shuffleboard and horseshoe equipment.
Roadschooling around the Midwest
Have you heard of roadschooling? Many families these days are choosing a more nomadic lifestyle, traveling the country in an RV or trailer even with their children. Roadschooling allows families to take an immersive approach to homeschooling, with learning experiences based on the landmarks and local attractions they encounter in their travels. Here in the Midwest, you can stay at Natural Springs and enjoy a number of museums and natural places of interest right along the Indiana/Ohio border before you move on to your next roadschooling stop.
