The summer of 2020 has been a highly unusual one with a delayed kick-off to the camping season, social distancing and other increased safety protocols. While many things remain uncertain during the COVID-19 pandemic, camping just may be the hottest getaway around! Many families are choosing to spend their annual vacation time in the great outdoors and that includes Natural Springs Resort!

Midwest Travel Bloggers Visit Natural Springs Resort

Over the summer, we have had the pleasure of hosting several Midwest travel bloggers. We loved being able to show them firsthand all that Natural Springs Resort has to offer.

The first to visit was the Mann family of Indy with Kids (Indy With Kids). Check out what Katy had to say about her family’s camping adventure with us and their very favorite part of our resort.

While the canoeing, paddle boating, fishing, swimming pool, craft cabin and other activities are wonderful attractions, the shining star of Natural Springs is the spring fed, swimming lake in the quarry.

Beautiful rock formations create the perfect setting for a day at the lake. The former rock quarry is full of fresh spring water, giving guests a gorgeous backdrop, incredibly clear water, interesting underwater views and a full schedule of recreational options.

If your children are like mine, they’ll be begging to visit the lake from the moment you arrive through the gate and first thing every morning. Our morning was spent fishing in the pond nearest our cabin and our daytime hours flew by when we were building sandcastles on the coarse sand beach, swimming, snorkeling and playing on the Wibits obstacle course.

The spring fed lake is perfect for families with children because the rock formations allow for different depths of water throughout, with some spots near the shore very shallow and some spaces very deep. There are plenty of spaces to explore in the roped off swimming areas. Skilled swimmers will love swimming out to the floating dock or water pad and jumping into the water. We brought our snorkel and mask sets and had incredible views of fish large and small. You’ll see bass, catfish, bluegill and grass carp that are more than 4 feet long!

Next up was the Stensland family of Learning from my Littles. Jenna has a unique perspective due to growing up in the Richmond, Indiana area, which is just minutes from Natural Springs Resort. Here’s what she had to say:

Life is just better by the water. When Natural Springs Resort in New Paris, Ohio invited mt family and I to experience the resort, I knew it was just what we needed. The resort did not disappoint. We were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful spring-filled lake. Our cabin was impeccably clean and had all the amenities we needed with two young children. There are also experiences and activities for everyone in your family whether you are taking the grandparents or have older children. At less than two hours from Indianapolis, Natural Springs Resort is a great getaway.

When you are settled into your cute accommodations there are so many activities to choose from. We didn’t even experience them all during our overnight and while speaking to the staff, I discovered there are more amenities on the way.

As we hit the beach, one aspect I really liked was the designated shallow area for children. I love when things are designed intentionally and keep the needs of families in mind. The deep section of the swimming area has a floating dock and swim mat to play on. The beach and swimming areas are large enough that we never felt crowded. These well thought out features led to a pleasant experience for the whole family.

Honestly, there is so much I haven’t even shared. We loved the ability to rent a golf cart. We had pizza and ice cream from the café. Made s’mores on our personal firepit. Then there are the amenities we didn’t even go to. With new amenities on the way such as laser tag and a splash pad, there will be even more opportunities for family fun at Natural Springs Resort. It really is a Midwest oasis. The only question we left with…when are we going back?

Lastly, we hosted Jamie of Cornfields and High Heels and her husband. As you can probably tell from the name of her blog, Jamie prides herself on having the best of both worlds. She loves to travel to big cities just as much as small towns. Here’s what she had to say about her stay at Natural Springs Resort:

It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors while social-distancing. I visited during the week with my husband.

If you prefer a more relaxed mode of entertainment (or want to take a ninja break), the pool is located adjacent to the beach. This is more my kinda hang-out, the type where I float around on a gigantic floatie in a heated pool or flop down in a lounging chair to rest and relax. All of these options are available!

The restrooms and shower rooms attached to the pool are newly remodeled and much nicer than any I’ve ever used before. Showers, restrooms, and changing areas are available, as well as outdoor showers to rinse off. Additionally, the Natural Springs resort’s Camp Store is located in the same area. They offer snacks, drinks, and other essentials (if you forget sunscreen or other lake and camping accessories, you’ll be able to find it here!).

The cabin was equipped with dinnerware and cooking accessories, as well as a grill, coffee maker, and toaster. The bedroom had an overhead fan, it’s own air conditioning unit, USB switches, a bench, and a clothes hanger bar. This cabin is modern and still smells new! It’s open, offers lots of natural light, and is air-conditioned.
